Bree and Jake’s Ultimate
Chicago Guide
Things to Do
-
Timber Lanes
A Jake fave. After all, he wasn’t the president of Ladue High School’s bowling club for nothing. If you’re planning on smashing some pins, make sure to call ahead to reserve your lane!
-
Logan Square Improv
If you’ve ever thought to yourself “I wonder what Bree and Jake do on a Saturday night”, well here is your answer! $5 and BYOB for the best comedy in the city. The Thursday Show and The Friday Show are some of our faves. (Also, The Saturday Show but you will be at our wedding.)
-
Green Mill
If you’ve ever thought to yourself “I wonder what Al Capone did on a Saturday night,” look no further! A historic Jazz club located in Chicago’s uptown and one of our fave date spots!
Things to See
-
Lincoln Square
Our neighborhood! It’s giving Stars Hallow, it’s giving Seguin, Tx, it’s giving Chicago’s german neighborhood located a bit north of down town! Be sure to check out Merz Apothecary, founded in 1875 (that’s really old!!), it has literally everything you could ever imagine from French skincare, to homeopathic medicine, to designer fragrences- you name it! Also be sure to check out Gene’s Sausage Shop for a sausage and a beer and a rooftop view.
-
Chicago Architecture Boat Tour
It’s a classic for a reason. Although the lake might be a bit chilly in October, bundle up and enjoy the skyline! Learn all about the history of Chicago architecture and how the great Chicago Fire really started!
-
Music Box Theater
One of our favorite movie theater’s! With it’s vintage charm and LIVE organ performances, it’s our favorite place to sit down with a bucket of popcorn and M&M’s and Diet Coke and a Coke and Bunch A Crunch and a glass of wine and an IPA and watch some classic films!
Things to Eat
-
The Warbler
Located in our beloved neighborhood of Lincoln Square, The Warbler is the hip place to be! We love bringing any out of town guests here for dinner to see our Chicago!
-
Svea
One of our favorite breakfast spots located in the Andersonville neighborhood! Order the viking breakfast when the owner is there and they will perform a swedish hymn for you!
-
Margie's Candies
Featured on The Bear, ever heard of it?! A perfect place for a huge sundae or a little sweet treat in the Wicker Park//Logan Square area!
Things to Drink
-
Rose's
Jake’s favorite bar in the city! An old dive bar that feels like you are in your grandparents’ basement. Sometimes they even let you make your own drinks! If you’re lucky, Rose herself might even be sitting in the corner enjoying a cold one as well!
-
Carol's Pub
Bree’s favorite bar in the city! A country bar with live music every night of the week. It’s a little bit of Texas in Chicago!
-
Hopleaf
We couldn’t mention our favorite bars without mentioning where it all began! See the place where Bree and Jake had their first date, but stay for some good beer and some good cider.
